This is where they make that shiny black grit.....

.....that you see at intersections & other icey spots... It is also shipped out to be used as the grit you see on asphalt shingles.

What you can't see in this photo are the massive "mountains" of the stuff around here.

The whole place kinda reminds you of the movie "Road Warriors". LOL

Mini Stove

Several people have emailed asking if I always take along my 2 propane stoves & propane grill, & the propane oven.

Nope!

This is my li'l mini stove that I carry when I'm just making a quick trip somewhere & don't know if I'll even be cooking at all. Its *always* in the pickup anyhow.

Its a Coleman which burns either propane or butane. I just use propane.

Oh, yes, make sure you note it's very fancy, custom-made carrying box... Yep, that's duct tape...

Birdhouse Icicles & Icey Branches...

Kinda gives you a shiver just to look out there at all the ice building up. Poor trees...

Branches are breaking all around... Lights have been flickering every once in awhile. Still getting some sleety drizzle, turning to ice...

We're getting lovely freezing rain, sleet, ice... Branches are already breaking...poor trees...

I really hate ice storms. While they *can* be quite beautiful, they can also be deadly to people, trees & wildlife...
